Week of July 16, 2012

McHugh continued to make progress on the temporary bridges adjacent to piers 2 and 3. The temp. bridge for pier 2 is complete and installation of the cofferdam started. The temp. bridge for pier 3 should be completed next week. McHugh did quite a bit of excavation adjacent to northbound IL 31 and has been working on the grading and widening there. Hecker worked on their electrical items and Western Utility continued on the storm sewer installation east of the river, near IL 25.

During the next week, McHugh will excavate for the footing for pier 2 and start the pile driving there. They will also start with the cofferdam installation for Pier 3. The roadway widening work near IL 31 will also move forward. Hecker will install more electric duct, moving from west of the river to east of the river sometime during the week. Western Utility will continue with their storm sewer and watermain installation.

AT&T, ComEd, and Comcast all have work to complete, mostly near IL 25 but with a few poles to relocate along IL 31.

IDOT has indicated that the closure of IL 25, from IL 64 to Stearns Road, will start on Monday, July 23 and will last about three weeks. This is necessary to replace a culvert across IL 25.
